She was living in Arizona at the time and would bring her own home-dried raisins to use in it... what a festive happy memory you have brought back. It also makes baking very appealing.

I remember that tea ring from my childhood. I wonder if its origins are German or Scandinavian? So many American baking traditions seem to come from one of the two.

As for the cookies, they sound like a recipe that Texans call Mexican wedding cookies. I'm going to try them out and see. (Like I need any more butter! I made spritz cookies last night and they use 12 ounces of the stuff!.) I will bring you some pecans when I come to Denmark. :) You need pecans.Beehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02375981493145612394noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1847911008685707977.post-80155962412145027662009-12-09T00:12:25.615+01:002009-12-09T00:12:25.615+01:00the tea ring looks absolutely lovely. this puts me...the tea ring looks absolutely lovely. this puts me in more in the spirit of the holidays.
xochristinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15541888793748453425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1847911008685707977.post-63963801789636954292009-12-08T16:09:35.903+01:002009-12-08T16:09:35.903+01:00I was thinking tea ring, actually...I was thinking tea ring, actually...Pollyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10085905065734027788noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1847911008685707977.post-59616053228757214742009-12-08T13:21:02.047+01:002009-12-08T13:21:02.047+01:00I never had tea cake and it sounds lovely, I'l...I never had tea cake and it sounds lovely, I'll try make one and take it home with me so that my Mum lets me take some of our traditional Christmas sweets to blog camp with me (they are made to last so they'll be still good)Pollyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10085905065734027788noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1847911008685707977.post-80954414029198132752009-12-07T23:54:47.691+01:002009-12-07T23:54:47.691+01:00What a festive little bread! I love the jewel fruits on top.

Your tea cake recipe takes me back to when I was younger, trying to decipher my grandmother's handwriting on the recipe card for Russian tea cakes. I should make some this week. I haven't had them in ages, and although I love them at any time of year, they seem particularly well suited to the holidays.

Aren't yellow walls frustrating? One of these days I'm going to buy a house, and the first thing I'll do--before moving anything in--is choose a room for my photography and paint the walls white.Annehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07338782102030629262noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1847911008685707977.post-54698441789537597632009-12-07T21:50:12.720+01:002009-12-07T21:50:12.720+01:00Never had teacakes or tearing.
